Designing escape routes, alarms, and warnings based on the perspective of Human Factors Psychology.

The aim of this research project was to increase security in underground railway stations and comparable technical systems by means of the optimisation of escape routes and the guidance along these routes. To this end, technical solutions integrating human factors (such as flight behaviour, configuration of alarms and warnings, and guidance along escape routes) were employed to accelerate evacuation in railway stations, thereby increasing passenger safety.
